MAHADEV RAMAN is a mechanical engineer. He is the current Chair of Arup/Americas Region, as well as being a member of the Arup Group Board. He has been in professional practice for 33 years, providing engineering design leadership for multi-disciplinary teams on a wide variety of projects worldwide.
He has particular expertise in the design of sustainable, high performance and energy efficient buildings and has pioneered the use of sophisticated analytical techniques to improve the performance of low-energy designs.
Selected projects include the Austrian Cultural Forum in New York; Simmons Hall at Massachusetts Institute of Technology; the United Nations Capital Master Plan; the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg, France; the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts in Philadelphia; Terminal 4 at JFK International Airport in New York; Kansai International Airport in Osaka, Japan; the Cleveland Botanical Garden; the Corning Glass Center in Corning, NY; The Nelson Atkins Museum in Kansas City, MO; The Institute of Contemporary Art in Boston, MA and the Jubilee Church in Rome, Italy.
Mr. Raman is a member of the faculty of Princeton University School of Architecture and a director of the Architectural League of New York.
