ALAN GREENBERGER has been with the City of Philadelphia since 2008 and served in the capacity of Executive Director for the Philadelphia City Planning Commission. In June 2010, Mayor Michael A. Nutter appointed him Deputy Mayor for Economic Development and Director of Commerce. Prior to that, he was in private practice as an architect and planner with MGA Partners and its predecessor, Mitchell/Giurgola Architects.
During his 34 years in private practice, he was the principal designer on numerous architectural, urban design and planning projects.
He serves on the boards of numerous civic and cultural organizations in Philadelphia including the Fairmount Park Art Association, the Delaware River Waterfront Corporation and Philadelphia Industrial Development Corporation. He is also a co-founder of the Design Advocacy Group of Philadelphia, a 1000 member organization that is a model of design advocacy Alan Greenberger is a Fellow of the American Institute of Architects and is on the faculty of the Department of City and Regional Planning at the University of Pennsylvania.
